The first match was against a Spaceballs-themed human team. Very funny 3D-printed models with a nicely matching paint job. I really enjoyed the look.
The match started with his offense. He picked up the ball, handed it to a Catcher, and positioned him behind a screen of players. He also managed to send two of
my Zombies into the K.O. box. All in all, a nice start for the humans, but he made the mistake of underestimating the attack range of my Werewolves. One of them was
able to run around his cage with two Go For Its and Blitz his ball carrier. He lost the ball, and his Catcher ended up in the casualty box. This completely broke his
offense, and I was able to score in the first half.
In the second half, I got my K.O.’ed player back and outnumbered him. Because I was leading, I concentrated my team in the middle around the ball carrier and moved
slowly forward. He engaged very aggressively and surrounded my team with all his players. It all devolved into a giant mosh pit, with a couple of removals on both sides.
But the humans lacked the strength to break my cage open and snatch the ball out. |

The guys with the round shiny helmets are the Blitzers. Commander Dark Helmet represents an Ogre. The Death Star he is riding don't fit in my opinion. Where is Spaceball One?
|
 |
The player in white with the number 10 is a Lineman. The player with the number 7 is a Catcher.

 |
The officer to the left represents a Thrower.

Boom & Doom Brigade Goblin |

The second match started somewhat like the first. I lost the roll for initiative, and the Goblin coach naturally chose to kick the ball.
Bad luck for me, because having the offense first is great for Goblins. He followed the usual Goblin game plan with chainsaw blitzes,
throwing bombs, and Dirty Player/Sneaky Git fouling. He managed to take some of my players out and got pretty lucky with his bomb throws — they all landed perfectly,
and he never rolled a one.
But he also played very aggressively and stretched his team out a little too much. I was able to K.O. the chainsaw in turn three and got a few blocks on the Ooligan
and the Bomber. Sadly, those two always survived unharmed. Like the coach in the previous game, he underestimated the speed some Necromantic Horror players bring to
the table and lost the ball that way. So I was able to score early in the first half.
He tried to throw a goblin into my end zone in the remaining turns but couldn’t even pick up the ball.
The second half started with all his secret weapons still on the field, because he never rolled a one for Argue the Call or bribes. But this time,
I had the offense and managed to slowly advance into his end zone. On the way, I removed a few of his players, including one of his trolls.
We had to end the game on turn 6 because time ran out. It wasn’t my fault, and in hindsight, I should have used a chess clock. |
 |
Here, the Necromantics already have the upper hand. The Ooligan (to the right) is surrounded by Necros.

 |
I managed to kick out the support for one Troll, so he has to pass his Very Stupid roll on a 4+. The other Troll is tackled by a Zombie.

This match was very frustrating because my opponent made a string of fatal mistakes that ended up not harming him in the slightest. Before the start, I already knew
it would be a hard match to win. My opponent had a lot more bash than me, was very resilient, and with Skitter Stab-Stab, also had a fast and agile scoring threat.
The game started with my offense. I punched the Bloaters on the line and got two armor breaks — nice! But both stayed on the field. I pulled back a little and built a cage
with a screen using all my players. He advanced very aggressively, especially with his Rotspawn. This was his first mistake. I managed to isolate it and gang foul him: I had 5
assists and rolled double 2s. No armor break, and one of my zombies got sent off.
Then I caged up on one sideline, thinking I was pretty safe with Sidestep on the Wraiths and Stand Firm on the Golems. He completely surrounded me again — very aggressively —
which was his second mistake. With some tricky positioning, I was able to (chain) push a Rotter and a Pestigor into the crowd. The Rotspawn was only saved by a Both Down/Pow result.
But there were no K.O.s or casualties; they all went straight into reserves. Then I gang fouled his Rotspawn again. This time I broke the armor — but again, a Zombie was sent off,
and still no K.O. or casualty.
Because I was busy removing players, I lost the ball. Skitter managed to get it and ran away. But he had almost no support — his next mistake. With some setup, I was able to
Blitz Skitter with a Zombie, sending him to the K.O. box. I also surfed a Bloater into the crowd — yet another mistake he made. This time, it regenerated and also went into
reserves. Time was running out quickly. I did manage to put his Rotspawn into the K.O. box but couldn't score before the half ended.
To recap the first half: I managed to push three players into the crowd and K.O.’ed another two. But at the start of the second half, he got everyone back except the Rotspawn —
and he even had an extra player. Meanwhile, I had to start with only nine players because of the two send-offs.
The second half played out accordingly. I couldn’t do much: I kept losing players, never made a successful regeneration roll, and never managed to send one of his players off
the field.
By turn 4 or 5, I was down to just five players, three of them lying prone. He ran Skitter to my end zone without support and placed his other ten players around my
remaining guys — another mistake. He underestimated the range of my Werewolf, so I could get a two-dice Blitz on Skitter. I even had Rerolls left. But with four block dice, I only
managed to get Pushes or Defender Stumbles — so again, a mistake he made that wasn’t punished.
He then scored and left me a few turns to equalize. I had six players against a full Nurgle team with Skitter, but there was still a chance. I tried to run down the sideline
because he’d positioned most of his players in the middle — yet another mistake. I tried to pick up the ball and failed.
I got a second chance: he blocked my Werewolf into the box but forgot about the Werewolf on the other side — his last mistake. But again, I couldn’t pick up the ball. So
he scored again with no problem and I lost the game. |
 |
After Skitter was K.O. one of my Werewolfs got the ball. He got punched down by a Bloater.

 |
Those damn Bloaters.
