In this tournament, besides me, three other Shambling Undead teams are also participating. I had to play against two of them. Brr. We all had more or less the same team, with only a few differences in skills: Tobitee had Block on all four of his Ghoul Runners but no skills on the Wights (and of course Guard Mummys). As expected, I couldn’t stop his offense, and he managed to score. But he couldn’t stop me on the counterattack either. My Tackle-Wights were quite useful against his Ghouls. For example, he tried to attack my cage early on with a Ghoul from the back, but the Wight managed to knock him down effectively. Also I got some chances to push his players into the crowd. Unfortunately, Tobitee lost all his games that day. If he had managed even a single draw, I would have won the tournament. I was tied in points with the eventual winner, and the first tiebreaker was the Opponent Score. However, we were also tied there, so it came down to the second tiebreaker, where I fell short.

Another game against Grave! The second mirror match of the day. If I remember correctly, Grave had three Ghouls with Block and one with Wrestle. This time, I got a bit lucky. For example, I had a Solid Defense against one of his offensives, which was very side-heavy. Another time, either a Mummy block or a Ghoul dodge led to a turnover for him (I can’t quite recall), which frustrated him. It happens. I had a nice chance to chain push one of my Ghouls into his cage next to his ball carrier. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out, as Grave’s player went down with a Both Down. His offense faltered when he rolled double ones on his final rush. He immediately started clearing up his pieces, and so did I, as we’d completely forgotten that I still had one turn left. In the second half, after a few rounds, I took control of the field since I managed to send several players to the box. I stalled, and Grave had more or less given up. We ended the game by mutual agreement.

Finally, something other than Undead! AsterX was a young player, but already very skilled. Up until then, he had won every game. The first half started off well for him: he knocked one of my players out before I even had a turn. Over the course of the half, my player count kept dwindling, making it harder to stop him. On top of that, I missed an opening in my defense, which he immediately exploited. Through a clever chain push, I managed to get a Blitzer in range to tackle his ball carrier. Unfortunately, he went down, either while dodging or rushing, allowing AsterX to score. I was determined to win, so I scored quickly in the fourth turn of the second half. By then, the weather had changed, and it was raining. Despite this, my opponent managed to pick up the ball. I went all-in, moving all my players forward near the ball and tackled the ball carrier. He made the mistake of trying to bash his way through my players instead of blitzing his ball carrier free. He attempted a dodge and fell! Now I had the chance to grab the ball. An impossible task: a 4+ pickup with no reroll. Incredibly, it worked. He still had a chance to blitz my ball carrier and successfully dodged all the way there, but on the final rush, he rolled a one! His rerolls (he had four) were already used up, so I managed to secure the win!
